As summer is almost upon us, it’s time to discover the best beaches of Agrigento, particularly the extraordinary Zingarello Agrigento. Zingarello is part of the territory of Favara, located east of the San Leone beach, and is an entirely untouched area due to its relative obscurity.
Zingarello in Agrigento offers a sandy beach and perfectly clean waters. It is just a stone’s throw from the famous Punta Bianca, with its limestone rock standing out among the darker stones of the entire promontory. At Zingarello, you will find a large and rather quiet beach where finding a spot for yourself is not difficult at all.
The setting is quite suggestive, dominated by a limestone ridge that borders a clean and unspoiled sea. Due to its relative obscurity, Zingarello Beach has managed to keep its wild nature completely intact, and in some spots, you will find swimming bans due to the typical ridges of the overlying promontory.
But how do you get there? To reach Zingarello Beach, it is advisable to leave your car and continue on foot through a steep path amid Mediterranean vegetation. Its beauty has earned it a place in the FAI’s “Luoghi del Cuore” census. If you feel more adventurous, you can choose to continue along the coast and reach Punta Bianca.
Located near the beautiful Agrigento, this beach is somewhat a miniature version of the Scala dei Turchi, though structured differently and much less frequented. It is indeed a very special place where the sandy beach initially gives way to smooth white marl rocks, creating an extraordinary postcard-like scene.
Let’s Discover Zingarello Beach in Agrigento Together
To reach Punta Bianca Beach, you must descend on foot along a dirt road, which takes about 10 minutes. Before starting the descent, it is advisable to take a look at the surrounding panorama. You can reach the top of a hill by car where you can park and enjoy the unbeatable view of the landscape.
Here, the wonderful colors meet and clash, creating an unexpected perspective with the hill characterized by the typical colors of burnt earth that then merges into the blue sea with shades of white, blue, and turquoise, against the backdrop of smooth white rock.
What we know about this beautiful beach is that it is a predominantly clay and sandy stretch of coast that has undergone an unstoppable natural erosion process over the years. An emblematic feature is the presence of a submerged fort dating back to World War II, which is the highlight of the excursion. Despite this, there will be plenty of opportunities to swim along the way, providing a refreshing break for both body and spirit.
