Known as the A20, the highway that connects Palermo to Messina is 183 kilometers long. Specifically, it connects Messina and Buonfornello along its route, then merges at the Messina Tremestieri interchange and joins the A19 highway at Buonfornello.
Palermo-Messina Highway
Despite being named the Messina-Palermo highway, it technically ends in the municipality of Termini Imerese, specifically in Buonfornello. To reach the Tuscan capital, an additional 43 kilometers need to be covered.
Palermo-Messina Highway: Where to Access It
The best route to access the A20 highway is to start in the direction of Palermo, then continue on the A19/E90 highway. Proceed from the highway at the Termini Imerese interchange and continue on Ss285/Ss113.
At this point, turn left onto Via Filippo Sgarlata, then right onto Piazza Ferdinando Ugo di Blasi, and finally left onto Via Sperandeo to reach the intended destination.
Palermo-Messina Highway: Toll Costs
The highway is managed by Anas. The toll costs apply to both the A18 (Messina-Catania) and the A20 (Palermo-Messina) highways. The toll fee is approximately 10 euros.
