Dear friends, today we take you to discover a village not far from the beautiful town of Cefal, Castelbuono, which sits on a hill about 400 meters above sea level. In fact, going into more detail, we’ll talk about the distance from Cefal to Castelbuono, the road to get there, and what to see in this place. Are you ready? Let’s start right away.

Castelbuono rises from the slopes of Colle Milocca and, among various wisdom and secrets of the past, it ranks as an ideal place for lovers of rural tourism but above all of Mediterranean cuisine. Shaped by numerous generations, Castelbuono is a place of rare beauty where you can admire unique beauties such as the imposing Castle built by the Ventimiglia family with the annexed Palatine Chapel (also called the Chapel of Sant’Anna), a church often chosen for wedding celebrations.

For art lovers, Castelbuono offers the Matrice Vecchia, a church dating back to the 14th century, where three styles merge: Romanesque-Gothic, Catalan, and composite-Chiaramontan, and inside the chapel, the ciborium is preserved over four meters high and two meters wide attributed to Giorgio da Milano in 1493.

But, in addition to the Castle of the Ventimiglia family, if there’s one thing you absolutely cannot miss, it’s the Clock Tower. The clock mechanism, overlooking the main square of the village, dates back to 1791, but the current device actually dates back to 1885 and was created by the Milanese company Isidoro Sommaruga.

Its maintenance is taken care of every single day by a specialized and properly trained attendant appointed by the municipality, and it is recommended to visit it, climbing to the top, because of its complex operation and gear system, which is truly a spectacle of beauty.
