Today, in this article of ours, we will discover Cala Azzurra in Favignana, so if you are planning a wonderful vacation in Favignana, you will have the opportunity to learn some more information about this beautiful Sicilian island here.
Cala Azzurra is located on the southeast side of the island, in an area protected from winds and currents, and it is one of the most loved and therefore most frequented beaches in all of Favignana. The name of this beach mainly derives from the color of its wonderful azure and super crystalline waters, and the seabed is characterized by a characteristic white sand with pink reflections.
This beautiful beach boasts two charming small beaches: the first is accessible via a path that starts from the main road, while the second is reached by following a secondary path that branches off to the right at the beginning of the descent. This bay, as mentioned above, is particularly renowned for its intensely blue waters and its shallow seabed, making it an ideal natural swimming pool.
Behind the beach, there are masses of dried white algae on the rocks that offer a comfortable solution for lying down when the beach is too crowded. These are basically accumulations of seagrass dried by the sea during the winter season, and although they can stick to the skin and especially to towels, their presence is still a characteristic memory.
From this beach, it is also possible to admire the horizon and the panorama of the entire Sicilian coast along with the urban landscape of Marsala. Moreover, among the rocks on the right, visitors can even find a natural source of clay that is perfect for aesthetic applications on the skin, and after allowing the clay to dry, a nice dip in the clear waters will give your skin an extraordinary sensation of softness.
But how can you get to Cala Azzurra? What are the beach establishments?
Well, we can say that recently an equipped beach area has been introduced, located just above Cala Azzurra and before the second beach. This area, which is part of a residential complex, also offers a unique view of the neighboring donkeys, creating a rather amusing contrast between beach relaxation and rural life.
And to complete this wonderful experience, don’t forget to visit the bar located at the beginning of the descent to the beach, which is a real haven for all visitors. Now, to answer the question we asked above, considering that Cala is located on the southeast side of the island, you can get there by first following the signs to Punta Fanfalo and then towards Punta Marsala.
To reach it from the town center, the distance is about 4 km along an internal road, starting from Piazza Madrice, or alternatively, about 5 km if you choose to follow the southern coastal route of the island passing through Lido Burrone and then continuing with the sea on the right.
Finally, regarding the beach establishments, unfortunately, it must be said that Cala Azzurra does not have any beach club or establishment, so you will have to equip yourself by bringing umbrellas and sunbeds if you intend to spend a whole day there.
